On the 8th of November the Malana Youth at Risk Centre was opened in Launceston. The opening was attended by a number of local Government and Non-Government Service Providers. The opening was a great chance to cement already existing relationships as well as build new ones to support the young people who will be accommodated at Malana.

The opening was also attended by members of the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre who performed a naming ceremony and officially named Malana which means Nest in palawa kani the language of the Tasmanian Aboriginals.

The opening concluded with the Malana Team providing tours of the site to those that attended. All in all, the feedback from the day was great and we look forward to what the future holds for the service.
