Family Support Services
What we do...
YFCC’s Family Support Services team aims to promote the safety, stability and wellbeing of children, young people and their families.
Part of the way we achieve this is through our membership of the North West Integrated Family Support Service (IFSS).
We work with families to identify their strengths and identify positive and sustainable solutions to challenges they may be facing.

Helping Young Families Program
The Helping Young Families Program is a collaborative project between YFCC, Mission Australia and CatholicCare under the Communities for Children (CfC) program. CfC provides a variety of programs for families with children up to 12 years of age located in the Burnie region. In August 2015, CfC introduced key workers to their program, these key workers are from YFCC and Mission Australia and provide an outreach component along with support in areas of parenting, relationships, and education. Referrals are made directly to Key Workers, who have a client centred approach.

Helping Young Families (HYF) provides voluntary support to parents aged 25 and under with children aged 0-12 years (including pregnancy) across the Burnie community. We focus on early intervention and offer:
- Case Management
- Parenting Programs (Circle of Security, 1,2,3 Magic and Triple P)
And work alongside families to:
- Build confidence and parenting skills
- Strengthen connections to community and supports
- Learn practical strategies through evidence-based programs
- Provide advocacy refer to other services as needed
Our team offers flexible, outreach support, meeting parents where they feel most comfortable, whether that’s at home, cafe, library or park.
At the heart of everything we do is the safety and wellbeing of children, while empowering parents to feel confident, capable and supported.
HYF is funded by the Department of Social Services through the Communities for Children program (CatholicCare). For more information or to make a referral, please contact:
