Sarah Steel – Board President, Member of the Finance & Risk Subcommittee

Qualifications and Skills: BA, MBA (distinction), GAICD. Project and Change Management, Housing Strategy.

Experience: Board Member since October 2021.

Jess Deans – Board Vice President, Member of the HR Subcommittee

Qualifications and Skills: Associate Degree in applied health and community support. Skills are program management, strategic planning and youth advocate.

Experience: Board Member since 2014 (with 18 months leave, returning 2022).

Dylan Lötter – Junior Vice President, Youth Representative

Qualifications and Skills: Passionate about spending time with family and friends, engaging with the community, and promoting personal development and wellbeing both physically and mentally.

Experience: Board Member since October 2023.

John Dowling – Treasurer, Member of the Finance & Risk Subcommittee

Qualifications and Skills: Qualified Accountant (CPA), Director of the Australian Association of Consultant Pharmacy and the Cradle Coast Authority. He is the Chairman of Meridian Lawyers. John Dowling served on the Pharmacy Guild’s National Council for over 21 years as Tasmanian President and National Councillor.

Experience: Board Member since 2022.

Mel Blake – Board Member, Member of the HR Subcommittee

Qualifications and Skills: Graduate Certificate in Career Development Practice and Graduate Certificate in Business. 20+ years of experience working in the community services sector, predominately in youth pathways and transitions. Experience in program management, collaboration and capacity building.

Experience: Board Member since 2023 (previous Board Member 2006–2009)

Ken Sherry – Board Member

Qualifications and Skills: Lived experience of drug dependance and is a victim survivor. Experience in provision of peer supports and taken a lead role in secular movement with Narcotics Anonymous.

Over 2.5 years experience on AOD Sector Boards.

Experience: YFCC Board member since March 2025.

Sheree Vertigan – Board Member

Qualifications and Skills: Master of Education (Leadership and Management) – University of Tasmania.
Bachelor of Arts – University of Tasmania.
Diploma of Education – University of Tasmania.
Tasmanian Certificate of Teaching: Full teacher registration until 2020.
Graduate Certificate in Literacy and Numeracy.
Instruction – Charles Sturt University.
Australian Institute of Company Directors Course.
Member of the Order of Australia (2017).

Strategic Leadership, Organisational Leadership,
Advocacy and lobbying, Public policy development, Community consultation, engagement and collaboration and Governance.

Experience: Board Member since 2026

Mathew (Mat) Grining – Board Member

Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor of Education University of Tasmania.
Over 20 years in the education sector, 14-years in senior leadership roles.
President of the Tasmanian Principals Association.

Community Leadership, Policy Development, Finance, Governance, Systems Design.

Experience: Board Member since 2026

Margot Ellis – Board Member

Qualifications and Skills: Juris Doctor – Australian National University.
Bachelor of Arts in Journalism – University of
technology, Sydney.

Communications, Analytical problem Solving, Marketing, Volunteering, Stakeholder Networks and Connections, Media Management, Strategic leadership and Governance.

Experience: Board Member since 2026

Experience: 20 years in community services sector.

Sarah Moore – Finance Manager

Qualifications and Skills: Bachelor of Business (Accounting and Corporate Governance), Certified Practicing Accountant.

Experience: 15+ years public practice and management accounting.
