On Wednesday the 30th of September, Bernie’s birthday was held at the Burnie Library. The Department of Social Services funds the YFCC Helping Young Families program through Catholic Care’s Communities for Children. To help celebrate Bernie’s birthday, Jacqui (Helping Young Families Key Worker) and Lindsay (Family Support Team Leader) dressed as Laa-Laa (yellow Teletubby) and Superwoman. They spent the morning manning the Fun with Flags stall, making flags and bunting with various families that attended the activity.

There were many different activities for families to take part in including 1000 book challenge, find the Bernie’s, apple art, pirate says, and meeting real live lizards. There were many prizes to be won, and plenty of Bernie’s (soft toys) for children to take home. And what kind of birthday would it be without cake? To finalise the celebrations, everyone was able to share Bernie’s birthday cake in a COVID-19 safe way, by having cupcakes. Happy Birthday Bernie, we hope there are many more birthday’s YFCC can celebrate with you.
