In the first week of May, YFCC was, once again, proud to celebrate Youth Week Tasmania by hosting of two Youth Expos, in Burnie and Devonport. The Expos were targeted at grade 9 students, with over 500 students attending across both events.
For the first activity of the Expo, a panel of four (4) young people from across the NW Coast spoke about their journeys into adulthood and how they were paving successful careers and opportunities for themselves. The aim of the panel was to challenge the myth that you need to leave the coast to succeed.
Following the panel, students had the chance to engage with a range of local service providers that focused on a variety of relevant areas including health, education, housing, counselling services and more. The interactive stalls provided lots of fun activities, resources, information and even a few giveaways.
The Burnie Youth Expo was supported by the Tasmanian Government and the Devonport Youth Expo was supported by Devonport City Council.
