The Youth Pathways Project, delivered in partnership with Burnie Works, aims to increase the effectiveness of the current PaTH (Prepare, Trail, Hire) internships program through increased employment outcomes for young people. A Youth Coach will provide participants with one-to-one coaching throughout their PaTH internship to provide them with guidance in the work environment and identify any potential or actual issues/barriers to their completing the internship and/or progressing to employment post internship. These issues/barriers will be addressed through referrals to appropriate services.

The program will work with young people in the Burnie region, aged 17 to 24, who have been registered with and serviced by an employment services provider for six months or more.

The project also includes a Project Coordinator role who will promote the project to local employers in the region from Wynyard through to Penguin, and coordinate internship opportunities with host employers.

Calita Bo Gregg has joined YFCC in the role of Youth Coach for this project. Calita’s role will be to provide coaching supports to the young person during their work placement, ensuring they maximise the opportunity before them and help them address any issues that arise that threaten their ability to complete the work placement, including working with their families to address barriers where necessary.

All referrals into the project must be through the young persons jobactive, DES or Transition to Work provider.

Young people who would like further information on the program should contact Calita for a project overview on 0448 281 240 or email
