The Youth Pathways Project, delivered in partnership with Burnie Works, aims to increase the effectiveness of the current PaTH (Prepare, Trial, Hire) internships program through increased employment outcomes for young people. A Youth Coach will provide participants with one-to-one coaching throughout their PaTH internship to provide guidance in the work environment and identify any potential or actual issues/barriers to their completing the internship and/or progressing to employment post internship. These issues/barriers will be addressed through referrals to appropriate services.
The program will work with young people in the Burnie region, aged 17 to 24, who are registered with, and serviced by, an employment service provider.
The project also includes a Project Coordinator role who will promote the project to local employers in the region from Wynyard to Penguin, and coordinate internship opportunities with host employers.
Calita Gregg has joined YFCC in the role of Youth Coach for this project. Calita will provide coaching support to the young person during their work placement, ensuring they maximise the opportunity and help them address any issues which may arise that threaten their ability to complete the work placement, including working with their families to address barriers where necessary.
All referrals to the project must be via the young person’s jobactive, DES or Transition to Work provider.
