Our Summer school holiday program was held throughout late December and all of January. During this time, we offered 12 individual activities, including sailing, rock climbing, surfing, skateboarding, mural painting, basketball, beach volleyball, beach games with the Burnie SLSC, laser tag and an art session called SPLAT!

We had over 150 people attend the activities, including some regulars, but also a lot of new people, one even came to us from Melbourne!

Despite the Health Promotion (HP) team all having COVID at some point during the holidays, we were able to run all activities except one. This will now be run in the Easter holidays instead, so people don’t miss out.

We saw good numbers attending all sessions and have received great feedback from participants, parents and facilitators.

The HP team utilise the school holiday program as a way of introducing young people to new activities and experiences that they may otherwise not get to try, and open their eyes to new ways of staying healthy and being connected to the community.
