During our 2021 January summer school holidays, we were excited to run a selection of 12 free activities for young people aged 12 and up in both Burnie and Devonport. Young NW Tasmanians were able to choose from a plethora of activities including surf lessons with the Coast Rider Surf School, skating lessons with the Drop In skate school, a hip-hop workshop with local producer STRAY, a day at Camp Clayton rock climbing and t-shirt, screen printing and mixed media workshops with Haus Creative.
Following on from a challenging year in 2020, it was great to offer young people an outlet for them to socialise with other young people and participate in a range of healthy and creative activities. We had great participation across all activities with 89 participants getting involved and learning new skills.
These activities were offered in partnership with Burnie and Devonport City Councils along with funding from LUCRF Super. We look forward to our next school holidays and will be promoting this in the coming weeks.
