Recognise a Young Person Making a Difference

There’s still time to recognise a young person who is making a positive difference in their school, family or community through the 2026 YFCC Inspiring Youth Awards.

The awards celebrate the everyday achievements of young people aged 13 to 18 across North West Tasmania, recognising those who quietly go above and beyond to support others, lead by example or make a lasting impact in their community.

YFCC Team Leader Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Service Damian Collins said the awards were an opportunity to shine a light on young people whose efforts often go unnoticed.

“Every day at YFCC we see young people doing meaningful things to help their community, whether that’s volunteering, mentoring peers, starting projects or simply showing up consistently for a team or club,” Damian said.

“It is important that a spotlight is put on our young people and they are publicly acknowledged for the inspiring efforts they are putting into our community.

“We want to see lots of nominations coming in again this year.”

The awards recognise young people through three categories.

The Lowkey Legend Award celebrates someone who brings positive energy, supports others and leads by example, The Quiet Achiever Award recognises a young person who consistently puts in the effort and achieves great things without seeking recognition and the Great Mate Award honours someone who always has the backs of those around them through kindness, encouragement and support.

YFCC encourages schools, sporting clubs, community groups, families and friends to nominate a deserving young person and help celebrate the positive impact they are making.

Nominations close on Wednesday 26 August, with winners to be announced at the Inspiring Youth Awards presentation lunch on Wednesday 7 October.
