Fit For Work
The Fit For Work (FFW) Program, funded in the North West through Jobs Tasmania, and in Launceston through the Australian Government Department of Social Services, works with local Job Services agencies to identify young jobseekers (aged between 15 and 25 years) who need additional supports to enter the workforce. Three full-time Youth Coaches work intensively with participants for 6 to 12 months to address complex health and wellbeing issues and build relationships and social connections. Participants are also provided with soft employment skills training through a series of workshops that can be delivered to small groups or to individuals. Workshops include important work readiness skills such as developing a resume, addressing selection criteria and interview skills. The project aims to support participants to rebuild their health, confidence and lost social capital, so they are more likely to break the cycle of welfare dependency. The FFW caseload is capped at 25 per Youth Coach, to ensure each participant can be properly supported.
