The Community Voices Project has been a partnership between YFCC, WISE Employment and Creativity Australia. After what has been a wonderful 2 years providing support for our local youth, the project finished up on the 31st of March.
The project aim was to assist young people with opportunities to re-engage in education, training and employment. Attendance at a local choir was the main social engagement tool which allowed friendships to form within the participant group, as well as having local service supports in the form of mentors.
The project’s success was evident when a funding extension was granted for an additional 9 months. 90% of participants achieved outcomes in education, training or employment. To acknowledge the end of the project, a celebration was held at the Paranaple Centre in Devonport on the 22nd of March. With around 80 guests in attendance, the final performance was showcased in the form of a pre-recorded choir session. There were also speeches , awards presented and a lovely dinner to end the evening.
