Every year, starting the first Sunday in September is National Child Protection Week.
In 1990 the first National Child Protection campaign was launched, with the aim of bringing abuse and neglect to the forefront of people everywhere and the issue to become part of the national agenda. Since this date, the need to put children first and ensure their safety has been recognised as extremely important and the safety of children has become everybody’s business.
Here at YFCC our pledge for National Child Protection Week is simple: YFCC pledge to support parents, families, and communities with keeping children safe, while promoting the importance of children’s safety and well-being.
Children do best when they feel safe, secure, and attached, and parents help them to feel this way when they have the support they need. By being kind and non-judgmental to parents, supporting family-friendly policies, and building connected communities, we help give children the best start to life possible.
So, this National Child Protection Week (6 – 12 September), help us by making child safety your business. To find out more visit NAPCAN: Prevent Child Abuse & Neglect (https://www.napcan.org.au/).
