By Damian Collins, Team Leader – Alcohol, Tobacco & Other Drugs
It has been a busy and productive period for the team at YFCC made somewhat more enjoyable by the longer days and warmer temperatures.
This month we received some exciting news, our expression of interest submitted to Burnie City Council’s Partnership Program was successful and we have entered into a three-year partnership supporting our Burnie Arvos programs for young people and our Resilience and Recovery peer support group for clients of our Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs (ATODS) Service.
Burnie City Council is supporting a number of community initiatives that contribute to a vibrant, connected and thriving Burnie, as part of Making a Better Burnie 2044.
We are thrilled that Burnie City Council chose to invest in both the health and development of the community’s young people through our Arvos program and saw the value in supporting people in recovery from addiction, who are often marginalised and stigmatised by society, through our Resilience and Recovery group.
This is yet another example of YFCC working collaboratively with local organisations and services, and built on decades of consistent high quality program delivery.
We understand that no one organisation has the resource, expertise or knowledge to be everything to everyone, so we prioritise working with like-minded and complimentary organisations to achieve positive outcomes for our community.
