Homelessness Week brought the community together

Homelessness Week provided an opportunity to raise awareness of homelessness in Australia, challenge common misconceptions and highlight the importance of safe, secure and affordable housing for everyone.

Throughout the week, YFCC was proud to connect with the community through two events that showcased the organisation’s accommodation services and the support available to young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Malana House welcomed community members through its doors for an open day, giving visitors the opportunity to meet staff, tour the facility and gain a better understanding of the support available to young people experiencing homelessness.

Later in the week, at Wurayni, people came together for a community barbecue, enjoying a free meal while learning more about the youth accommodation service and the work being done to support young people to build independence. Thanks to the Rapid Response Team who organised and donated the catering at the event.

YFCC provides a range of accommodation and support services across North West Tasmania, helping young people find stability, build confidence and create brighter futures.

The strong community support shown throughout Homelessness Week highlighted the importance of working together to raise awareness, strengthen connections and ensure young people have access to the support they need.
