Name: Dakoda Doherty

YFCC Service Area: Family Support Services

Location: Devonport & Burnie

What I like about my role: It’s still early days for me in this role, but I am already really enjoying the variety—supporting families behind the scenes and connecting with them in person, both through IFSS and at The Canopy. Life can be tricky for all of us at times, so I feel lucky to be in a role where I can help make things feel a little lighter and more manageable.

What’s made the biggest difference so far is the IFSS team. They’ve been incredibly welcoming, supportive, and generous with their knowledge, which has made settling into the role such a great experience. I feel lucky to be part of a team that’s so passionate about walking alongside families and making a real difference.

A bit about you: Before joining the Family Support Team, I mostly worked with young people—both here at YFCC with CASS, and previously in roles like therapeutic residential care and youth detention. One of my biggest passions in life is travelling. I love exploring different cultures and places, backpacking trips I’ve done over the years are some of my most favourite memories. These days, I’m happily settled back here in Tassie with my partner—and we’re very excited to be expecting a baby girl in January!
