On August 5th the red carpet was rolled out for the 2019 HELP film festival screening. The evening was hosted by Lee and Jess from Sea FM and saw 6 films from schools across the north of the state aired on the big screen at Reading Cinema.
This year marked the 8th year of the film festival which is shown during homelessness week every year.
This year’s theme was “Pay it Forward” and the entrant done an amazing job portraying the importance of small things having huge impacts. With approximately 100 people braving the winter evening to come along and support our young film makers and hear from Jess Deans from Red Cross tell her own story of the impact of pay it forward.
A huge congratulations to Launceston Christian School for taking out first “The Vulnerability” and second prize “Loved”; as well as the people’s choice award for “Pay it Forward” on the night.
The quality and creativity of the films continues to grow each year and we are looking forward to what next year’s festival will bring. For more information on the 2020 HELP film festival keep an eye on the YFCC website and Facebook page.
