CEO MESSAGE

With the end of the financial year and upcoming AGM, we have well and truly been in reporting mode. All programs required significant progress and financial reporting in July; which occurred concurrently with the commencement of the external audit process and the implementation of the new financial year’s budgets. A busy time it has been indeed.

During Homelessness Week 2023 we held a luncheon to raise awareness of the impact of homelessness on any given night and educating communities on how we might work together to make a difference. We were fortunate to have Gran’s Van’s Alistair Ollington as our speaker, and young people with lived experience of homelessness. Please read more about this enlightening event below.

We are also pleased to announce we have a new coordinator at Malana, Cassie Male. Cassie has worked in YFCC crisis and transitional accommodation services for over 8 years and has leadership experience from former roles. It is highly positive to be able to make this internal appointment, which has also facilitated a smooth transition for our team and the young people in residence.

Finally, we were thrilled to receive some small grants over recent months from MyState, the Burnie City Council and LGBTQI+ Grants Program. These grants enable innovation and the progression of our work.

Thank you for taking the time to read the newsletter. If you would like to contribute to our next edition, please contact us at reception@yfcc.com.au.

Regards,

Ros Atkinson
CEO
