CEO MESSAGE
Welcome to 2023. I hope everyone had a chance to rest and recover over the festive season.
We are delighted to be kicking off the year with the announcement our application for the Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Peer Workforce Grants Program was successful. This grant will enable us to employ a peer worker to work alongside our AOD team and is the direct result of the concerted effort we have undertaken, alongside our partners, the DEN, Salvation Army and Holyoake, to ensure peer representation in AOD Organisations is valued and recognised.
Through the YFCC Clinical Committee, we have been working to enhance our inclusive practices. To this end, we have dedicated ATSI and LGBTQIA+ subcommittees. To date these subcommittees have ensured increased and ongoing education across the Organisation, in addition to working to further reduce any barriers to accessing services or our working environments. We now have conditional endorsement by Reconciliation Australia for YFCC’s inaugural Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), with progress being made to finalising the official RAP documentation for implementation.
In other good news, we are also extremely pleased to see our very own Kiara Digby presented with the Devonport Council's Young Citizen of the Year award on Australia Day. A truly well-deserved award for this young lady who works determinedly to give back to, and improve, her community. We are very proud!
