CEO MESSAGE
The final days for the year draw near – and what a year it has been! It has certainly been an industrious, yet fruitful, one for YFCC. I encourage everyone to read our 2021-2022 Annual Report (accessible through our website) which highlights the programs, services, and activities YFCC has provided throughout this period.
Since the report, we are delighted to have commenced providing youth accommodation support services in Launceston, with the opening of Malana, the Youth at Risk Centre. We are also extremely pleased to receive an extension for our extremely successful Fit for Work program in Devonport.
We had new members join our Board at the recent AGM. We warmly welcome John Dowling (also Treasurer), Sid Sidebottom, Kendal Sylvester (also consumer representative) and Jess Deans.
In this last newsletter for 2022, I wish to acknowledge and thank our highly regarded funders, partners and donors who continue to collaborate and support the work of YFCC. I would also like to express my gratitude for our incredibly talented team and Board, all of whom are so passionate and dedicated in what they do. It is always a privilege to work alongside you.
Most importantly, I thank our many clients and community members who have faith in us to share their journey. “Anyone can stay the same. It takes courage to change.” – John Assaraf
I look forward to returning again in 2023.
A happy and healthy Christmas and New Year to all.
Thank you for taking the time to read the newsletter. If you would like to contribute to our next edition, please contact us at reception@yfcc.com.au.

What do you like about your role?
I like being given the opportunity to work with young people.

On the 8th of November the Malana Youth at Risk Centre was opened in Launceston. The opening was attended by a number of local Government and Non-Government Service Providers. The opening was a great chance to cement already existing relationships as well as build new ones to support the young people who will be accommodated at Malana.

With the January school holidays offering the longest break between classes and the best weather (hopefully!) we have put together a jam-packed program of free, fun and different activities available for 11–18-year-olds living on the Northwest Coast.

Every six months, YFCC conducts a phone survey of around 10% of our clients across all programs and services delivered by the organisation. The most recent survey was conducted in November of this year.

The Transitional Accommodation Support Service (TASS) works with young people and young parents to make a successful move into long term, safe, and affordable housing. We believe all young people have the right to safe and sustainable accommodation.

As a child safe organisation we are constantly seeking to ensure our programs and services are designed to help children and young people feel safe.
