A message from YFCC CEO Roslyn Atkinson
As we commence a new financial year, we do so with a strong sense of purpose and commitment to the young people, children and families we serve across our community. While the year ahead will undoubtedly present challenges, it also offers opportunities to strengthen partnerships, celebrate achievements and continue making a positive difference in local lives.
|
One of the most exciting developments for YFCC is the sponsorship of our Inspiring Youth Awards by Hardings Group. This partnership brings together two proud local organisations with a shared commitment to supporting positive outcomes for young people in our region. We are incredibly grateful to Hardings Group for their support and belief in the potential of our young people. Together, we will continue recognising and celebrating the achievements, resilience and contributions of local youth who inspire us all.

This year also marks a significant period of change and reflection for our Board. After an extraordinary 25 years of dedicated service, Peter Hollister has retired from the Board and has been deservedly recognised as a Life Member of YFCC. Peter’s contribution over a quarter of a century has been immense, including several periods serving as Treasurer. His steady leadership, financial stewardship and unwavering commitment have helped shape YFCC into the organisation it is today.

On behalf of our staff, Board and community, I extend our sincere thanks to Peter for his remarkable service.

We also farewell Board Members Chris Young and Sid Sidebottom, who have each made valuable contributions during their time with YFCC. Their support, insight and commitment to our mission have been greatly appreciated, and we thank them for their service.
|
At the same time, we are pleased to welcome three new Board Members: Mat Grining, Margot Ellis and Sheree Vertigan. Collectively, they bring a wealth of experience, knowledge and skills that will strengthen our governance and help guide YFCC through the opportunities and challenges ahead. We look forward to the perspectives and expertise they will contribute as we continue to evolve.

Like many community service organisations across Tasmania, YFCC enters the new financial year facing significant fiscal pressures. Funding levels continue to fall short of the true cost of delivering quality services, creating ongoing challenges for the sector at a time when demand is high. As a result, difficult decisions have been required, including managing deficit budgets and reducing staffing levels in some areas.
|
While these realities are tough, our commitment to supporting vulnerable children, young people and families remains unchanged. The resilience of our staff, the dedication of our Board, the support of our partners and the trust of our community give us confidence as we move forward.
|
Together, we will continue advocating for those who need us most and working to create stronger futures for all.

We recently completed our six-monthly Client Evaluation and annual Stakeholder Evaluation, giving clients and partner organisations an opportunity to share their experiences and help inform the ongoing improvement of services.

Creating space for parents to connect
Youth Family and Community Connection’s (YFCC) Stronger Families Series is helping create welcoming spaces for parents and carers to connect, learn and feel supported in their parenting journey.
|
|
The free workshop series was developed after staff spent time speaking with families and community members about the kinds of support they wanted and needed.
|
