Homelessness Week events shine a light on support for young people

YFCC will mark Homelessness Week 2026 with two community events highlighting support for young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Homelessness Week will be held from Monday 3 August to Sunday 9 August, with this year’s national theme, Homelessness Action Now, calling for greater awareness, stronger support and long-term solutions.

Chaos to Calm workshop helps parents build positive home routines

YFCC’s Stronger Families Series will continue in August with Chaos to Calm, a free workshop designed to help parents and caregivers build positive routines at home.

The workshop will focus on practical strategies to support everyday family life including routines around sleep, screen time, connection and getting ready for school.

Helping Young Families Program supports young parents to thrive

YFCC’s Helping Young Families Program is supporting young parents in the Burnie community to build confidence, strengthen parenting skills and connect with the right support.

The program is available to parents aged 25 and under with children aged 0 to 12 years, including during pregnancy.

Inspiring Youth Awards opening doors for young people

Fourteen-year-old Stanton Burtt from Devonport still doesn't know who nominated him for the Great Mate Award at the 2025 YFCC Inspiring Youth Awards, but he has his suspicions.

What he does know is the impact the recognition has had on his life.

"Winning the award has opened doors I didn't know existed," Stanton said.

"It helped me get a job and go on to win the 2026 Tasmanian Young Achievers Raw Strength in the Community Award."
