CEO MESSAGE

I hope you all had a relaxing Easter break. For most of us it was not the Easter we had planned, but it also provided vital time to re-set and be ready to go again.

During April we welcomed our new Clinical Supervision and Service Improvement Officer, Tunya Petridis, to our team. We are very fortunate to have Tunya on board as she has outstanding clinical and sector experience and knowledge. You can read more about Tunya below.

Of course, like many others, we are adapting to operate in this new world. In response to COVID-19 we are committed to maintaining the availability of our services and supports, however, what has changed is the way we deliver these services. We have taken steps to protect our team, clients and the broader community by -
  • Continuing to monitor the latest developments and advice and act accordingly
  • Ensuring social distancing and excellent hygiene practices at all sites
  • Restricting face-to-face meetings and contacts and alternatively using phone calls and digital technology to remain connected
  • Cancelling all groups and events, including Arvos and Youth Week Tasmania and offering online / virtual activities
  • Having staff work from home where it is not essential to be in the workplace
  • Encouraging all who wish to access our services to call us first.
We hope you enjoy reading this newsletter. Stay well and safe.

Thank you for taking the time to read the newsletter. If you would like to contribute in our next edition, please contact us on reception@yfcc.com.au

NEW TEAM MEMBER - TUNYA PETRIDIS

I started work in the Clinical Supervisor and Service Improvement role at the start of April and I have yet to step foot in a YFCC office or meet any staff in person. After about 15 years working in Community Services that is certainly a first and as the lockdown in the North West tightens it's grip it is unlikely to change any time soon.

ARVO'S IS GOING ONLINE

The Health Promotion Team have decided to run the Arvo sessions in an online format to maintain contact with NW young people.

We aim to provide a social outlet for youth during this time of lockdown and hopefully prevent young people feeling totally isolated.

CLIENT EXPERIENCES - TRANSITIONAL ACCOMMODATION SUPPORT SERVICES (TASS)

The Transitional Accommodation Support Service (TASS) supports young people as they transition to independent living.

Whilst these strange times have certainly impacted our working environment, we are still able to support and guide our clients.

We are no longer able to see our clients face to face but remain having regular contact via phone.
