CEO MESSAGE
I am always surprised by how quickly time goes and this year is no exception. With many reviews, changes in policy and new directions, we have been kept busy across all our areas of work
Recently we have had some success with securing funding so we can further our work for our communities. The first of those was through the LUCRF Super Community Program, whilst the second was through the Alcohol and Drug Foundation, Local Drug Action Team Program. Please read more below about what this funding will be providing.
In other good news, Damian Collins, our Alcohol and Other Drugs Team Leader, has been selected for the Tasmanian Leaders Program. This is terrific recognition of Damian’s current leadership skills and will provide opportunities for further development and networking with others from across the State
I take this the opportunity to thank our staff, partners and funders for the roles we collectively play in supporting children, young people, individuals, families and communities. I also wish to thank those who support our work through donations. In this newsletter we feature Devonport Specsavers who kindly donate to YFCC through their Specsavers Community Program. These words nicely sum up the values of the wonderful team at Specsavers “I'm really happy to be able to do something for the community here, it's one of the privileges of being a business owner and I'm very conscious that a large part of our clientele come to us because they are just so glad to be able to finally afford glasses without having to drive as far as Launceston.”
Thank you for taking the time to read the newsletter. If you would like to contribute in our next edition, please contact us on reception@yfcc.com.au
Happy Christmas to all. I wish you a safe, joyful and healthy New Year.

DJ has been appointed the new TASS Tenancy Officer in conjunction with his other role as Executive Assistant (EA).
DJ will be working closely with the TASS Team to ensure our Tenants meet all the requirements of their programs and expectations.
We have 11 units in Devonport and 13 in Burnie. The Tenancy Officer and the EA roles both have time sensitive targets, and the mix will certainly be a test of time management skills.
DJ would like to take the opportunity to thank all YFCC Staff for the invaluable help he has received so far in this “learning” phase.

Targeted programs for youth in the local Devonport and Burnie regions received a boost recently with YFCC’s weekly ARVOs program receiving a grant from the LUCRF Super Community Program. The funding, provided over two years, will enable YFCC to expand and continue these important services for local youth.

Following a 12 month project planning period, YFCC have submitted a successful funding application for $10,000 to the Australian Drug Foundation (ADF). The application is to partner with Devonport Community House and Devonport City Council to work with the local community in the planning and delivery of a natural playscape in Highfield Park in Devonport. The project is built on years of consultation with the community local to this park by Devonport Community House and the LDAT funding will be overseen by the Devonport Youth Network.
