CEO MESSAGE

After a very busy first quarter, I hope each of you had a relaxing Easter break.

Our team worked hard during April to ensure there were a range of engaging and exciting school holiday events for young people to take part in, in addition to planning several Youth Week events which will be held during the last week of April.

The Community Voices Project, delivered in Devonport, Tasmania and Logan, Queensland since 2019 came to an end in March 2021. Part of the Commonwealth Government’s Try, Test and Learn program, the project was a collaboration between WISE Employment, Creativity Australia, St Vincent De Paul and YFCC. Community Voices was outstandingly successful. 83.3% of clients moved into employment, education or skills training; 78% increased their skills and knowledge, and improved behaviours which held them back from employment; and 98.6% of clients were satisfied with the project. The project was highly effective in promoting social inclusion, providing holistic, person-directed case management and recovery-oriented psychosocial support, and adapting to COVID 19 restrictions.

With Community Voices ending, we were excited with the Liberal Government’s announcement on the 30th March, that the Fit for Work project, which provides young job seekers with individualised support and case management to successfully engage in long-term employment, education and training Employment services will continue to receive funding for a further year, should a majority Liberal Government be elected
