CEO MESSAGE
Along with the end of year financial reporting our staff have been busy preparing program annual reports. Together with our outcomes data, this provides an excellent opportunity to review services and their effectiveness.
During Homelessness Week in August we also facilitated two significant events to raise awareness of the plight of many Tasmanians who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The annual H.E.L.P. film festival and Homelessness Week Luncheon, with guest speaker, Hon. Roger Jaensch, Minister for Human Services, Minister for Disability Services and Community Development, Minister for Housing, Minister for Planning and Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, engaged many of our community members and schools. You can read more about these in this newsletter.
Finally, we are excited to have commenced implementation of the National Mental Health Standards 2010. This is in recognition of the work we have been doing over many years to support mental health well-being and to support those who have mental ill-health. We are aiming for accreditation in late 2020.

Role- Brief Intervention Officer (Burnie)
About me- I spent 23 years in the hospitality industry and I am a qualified Pastry Chef by trade. The hospitality industry is rife with AOD abuse and I have had a number of close friends that have succumbed to their addictions over the years. So last year I retrained and completed a Diploma in AOD and Mental Health in a bid to be able to make a difference in people’s lives and draw on my life experiences to hopefully help change a few lives for the better. I play and teach guitar in my spare time.

The Transitional Accommodation Support Service (TASS) works with young people and young parents to make a successful move into long term, safe, and affordable housing. We believe all young people have the right to safe and sustainable accommodation.
Young people, aged 15-20 years, who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of experiencing homelessness, are able to access medium term/transitional accommodation through TASS (this includes young parents and their children).

Every month, up to 36,500 Australian women and girls face the hardship, danger and emotional anxiety of being homeless, as well as the discomfort and lack of dignity that comes with having their period whilst struggling to afford menstrual hygiene products.
Share the Dignity has developed the revolutionary Dignity Vending Machine (also known as #Pinkbox) in the hope of making a difference to the lives of those who are experiencing homelessness or are at-risk or in need.
