Share the Dignity - Pinkbox

CEO MESSAGE

We are thrilled to be able to offer our clients a new service utilising our video conferencing facilities to engage with a Queensland based psychiatrist. Access to this psychiatrist was as a result of an established professional relationship with one of our counsellors from a previous role. This service offering has partly addressed the severe shortage of available Tasmanian based psychiatrists and is yet another example of the way our team works innovatively to best meet the needs of their clients.

Through our partnership with Share the Dignity, we are also very pleased to have the “Pink Box” installed at the junction in Devonport. This is the first machine to be installed in Tasmania, outside of the capital city. The machine dispenses free Period Packs and is accessible to the public during opening hours.

Recently all YFCC staff participated in team training (one of four full days YFCC holds each year). The focus this time was on gaining increased knowledge and skills to protect self and others from bullying and harassment (delivered by Choose Life Support Services) and increasing awareness and service responses for those from a CALD background, including growing the understanding of the migration and settlement experience in Tasmania (delivered by the Migrant Resource Centre). Both were highly engaging and will serve to improve the working environment and relationships for staff and clients.

I would like to acknowledge and thank both the Lady Members of the Devonport Country Club and QMV Solutions for their generous donations to our services. Every dollar goes towards supporting improvements in our clients’ lives.

Finally, I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter holiday. With such a hectic first quarter, it feels like we all deserved this break.

Thank you for taking the time to read the newsletter. If you would like to contribute in our next edition, please contact us on reception@yfcc.com.au

Regards,

Ros Atkinson

Share the Dignity Pinkbox - The Junction - 64 Stewart Street Devonport

Every month, up to 36,500 Australian women and girls face the hardship, danger and emotional anxiety of being homeless, as well as the discomfort and lack of dignity that comes with having their period whilst struggling to afford menstrual hygiene products.

Share the Dignity has developed the revolutionary Dignity Vending Machine (also known as #Pinkbox) in the hope of making a difference to the lives of those who are experiencing homelessness or are at-risk or in need.
